  • Banner is a software application that is designed specifically for use at higher education institutions. Banner 9 is an upgrade to the interface of the current Banner 8 system (Banner INB and Owl Express). When it is complete, everything from Banner INB and Owl Express will be part of a new integrated modern system. What was referred to as Banner INB will be called Banner Administrative Pages.
  • We always want to stay current with our systems. The Banner 9 upgrade provides many enhancements, which will improve the experience for Students, Faculty and Staff.
  • The new Administrative Pages are accessed through your native browser instead of through a separate plug-in. Also, Banner “forms” are now called Banner “pages”. The pages will have all the same information, but presented in a new improved interface.
  • The seven-character form names remain unchanged. Your security access will also remain the same as it was in Banner INB. Lastly, all of the data behind the forms is the same. The Banner 9 update ONLY changes the interface to the data, not the underlying tables, processes, or data.
  • We will have both Banner 8 INB forms and Banner 9 Administrative Pages up for a short time period. Banner 8 INB forms will no longer be available after December 1, 2018.
  • Application Navigator, new with Banner 9, is the tool that allows access to Banner 9 Administrative Pages.
  • Not all new, but some of the shortcuts have changed. A document that compares keyboard shortcuts in current Banner INB forms to what they now are in Banner 9 Administrative Pages will be provided during in-person training sessions.
  • Banner 9 Administrative Pages currently work best in Google Chrome and Safari. Banner 9 Administrative Pages also supports Internet Explorer (IE); however, it is slower.
  • The Internet browser and web server cache stores certain information to increase performance when visiting websites. There are times when cached files will cause errors in Banner 9 Administrative Pages if the stored content is old and/or the application has been recently upgraded. Ellucian recommends clearing your browser cache from time to time to ensure effective productivity.

    Clear Browser Cache Instructions

    Chrome:
    Press Control-Shift-Delete > Browsing Data > Click "Cached images and files" and "Browsing History" and "Download History" > Clear data

    IE (Internet Explorer):
    Press Control-Shift-Delete > Click Temporary Internet Files and website files > Delete Also click Menu > Internet Options > General tab > Browsing History > Settings "Check for newer versions of stored pages" should be set to "Every visit to the page".

  • Completely logout of the Banner 9 application and close all browser sessions. Try logging back in using one of the supported browsers. If you continue to receive this error with one of the supported browsers, please contact the Service Desk.
  • Currently, we encourage you to use Chrome or Safari for the best user experience. Internet Explorer can also be used, however it tends to be slower.
  • Yes. You will use your KSU NetID and NETID password to log in to Banner Administrative Pages. This is the same as is the current method for suing KSU Connect and Owl Express.
  • Administrative Associates should attend the administrators trainings.
