Employee & Student Information Portal: Owl Express (AKA “Banner”)
Owl Express is KSU’s employee and student information portal.
Employee Services
Faculty and staff: Log in to Owl Express and select Employee Services to quickly access parking and vehicle information, update your preferred name, make sure you (and employees you manage) are up to date on required training, and more.
Faculty Services
Faculty: Log in to Owl Express and select Faculty Services to view your course schedules and rosters for each class you teach (including photo rosters of your students). At the end of each term, this is where you will post students’ final grades.
Please note that courses added to your roster by the registrar typically populate in Owl Express several weeks before they appear in D2L. (For students, classes typically appear in D2L on the day of the first class meeting.)
Check out the KSU Registrar's resources for faculty.
Learning Management System: D2L Brightspace
D2L is the USG's Learning Management System. UITS supports faculty needs as you set
up and manage course content on D2L.
Find detailed information about course availability, course-related requests (course
shell, course reset, third party integration, enrollment), account access, and updates
to the D2L system and related technologies here: D2L Information for Faculty and Staff.

Various applications are integrated with D2L, including the following:
- Anthology Ally: Use this accessibility tool to ensure documents and other content in D2L is accessible.
- Kahoot: Engage students with games and quizzes in real-time
- Kaltura MediaSpace: Record, edit, and share media—all from within D2L Brightspace.
- ReadSpeaker: Enable students (or others) to listen to the text of an online document (e.g., PDF or Word format) using text-to-speech to transform the text into sound.
- Respondus Lockdown Browser (integrity tool): The Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within D2La learning management system. You can use it to monitor students' access to external resources while taking quizzes within D2L.
- SoftChalk Enterprise: Create lessons and publish them online.
- Turnitin (integrity tool): Use this internet-based plagiarism-detection service to discourage and detect academic dishonesty.
- VoiceThread: Create an interactive presentation that gives students the opportunity to write or record their responses.
- Zoom: Use this video conferencing platform to manage video conference meetings, lessons, and live chat.
If you would like to connect a different third-party application to D2L, UITS and Digital Learning Innovations (DLI) review, approve, and, if approved, facilitate and support these integrations. Please plan ahead to allow enough time to ensure a successful implementation.
Follow these steps to connect a different third-party application to D2L:
- Navigate to service.kennesaw.edu/technology.
- Select Service Request.
- In the left-hand menu, select D2L Special Requests.
- Select D2L Third Party Integration Request Form and complete the form to submit your request.
